API Portal deprecation
Hi Cholo5ntrol,
I wanted to let you know that the API Portal is being deprecated and will be inaccessible starting in June 2026. Here's how this may affect you:
- API keys created on the API Portal will continue to work and can be managed via https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:OAuthConsumerRegistration/list.
- APIs documented on the API Portal will continue to work in the short term and then will be gradually replaced with new APIs starting in July 2026. For the latest updates about the deprecation process, subscribe to https://lists.wikimedia.org/postorius/lists/mediawiki-api-announce.lists.wikimedia.org/.
- Documentation from the API Portal is moving to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_APIs.
For more information, see https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/API_Portal/Deprecation.
Thank you for all your contributions to the API Portal community! If you haven't already, make sure to log in to mediawiki.org with your same API Portal account and set up your user page and notifications there so we can contact you about the latest API docs developments. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me on my talk page: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User_talk:APaskulin_(WMF). APaskulin (WMF) (talk) 17:43, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
