Purpose?

Is there any information on the purpose of a separate wiki for the Wikimedia API when mediawiki.org exists? The link to API Portal:About in the footer goes to a page that does not exist (which might tell something). 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 19:25, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @1234qwer1234qwer4! I've added a redirect to Community/About, which provides some information about the site. The primary reason for a separate wiki was to use a design that resembles popular API documentation sites. --APaskulin (WMF) (talk) 01:52, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I only found out now that it only looks like any other WMF wiki for logged in users. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 11:18, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If it defaults to Vector when logged in, set a local exception to override your global preferences appearance in this wiki to re-enable its original skin. Militum professio scriniarii (talk) 21:24, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, though I was just meaning to say that I was not aware of the appearance unregistered users were facing. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can we please install and enable Translate extension here?

According to Community/About this is planned for later this year. --Ameisenigel (talk) 21:40, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thx. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 10:53, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is the Wikipedia API Open Source?

I would love to fix many bugs I have come accrossed. I think many developers would love to contribute to this project. Skane526 (talk) 19:35, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. See mw:How to become a MediaWiki hacker to get started. Pppery (talk) 18:36, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Editing restricted

It seems like editing is restricted to just the talk namespace(s) (I can't even edit my user page!). This should probably be noted on the Main Page. Koavf (talk) 18:01, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
